Financial Information

The Barrett's Oesophagus Foundation was established in 1999 as a National Charity with the principal aims of:

Since 1999, our very limited funds have been expended principally in maintaining the valuable work being carried on by UKBOR. On a day-to-day basis, only the Registrar and some part time assistance, supported by the two honorary Medical Directors, staff the Registry.

We urgently need funds to pursue our objectives and the Trustees have been working hard to develop a viable and achievable fundraising strategy.

Fundraising feasibility study

In April 2002, an independent fundraising feasibility study was finalised (with the help of generous charitable support). We were gratified by the principal conclusion of the study which was that a capital fundraising target in the order of £1 million, to incorporate three years' revenue and a phased research activity, was believed to be realistic and achievable. The Trustees have secured external endorsement of the feasibility study and are currently seeking lead donors and initiating the fundraising campaign in earnest; however, a major initiating donation has eluded us.

We are aware that serious fundraising will gather momentum once a Campaign Director is appointed. Fundraising is proceeding disappointingly slowly. Nevertheless, we are determined to continue to make such approaches as we can in the hope of securing these early donations.

Annual Report and Accounts

Since the charity was founded, the accounts of The Barrett's Oesophagus Foundation have been fully audited by PKF Chartered Accountants London, who have reported their opinions without qualification.
